Mak’hela, whose name means “chorus “ in Hebrew, is a chorus dedicated to sharing Jewish culture through music. Founded in 2003, the chorus has performed in many New England venues. Its members are diverse and not all are Jewish.

 

Mak’hela’s music comes from a variety of eras, places and styles. Music is performed in Yiddish, Ladino, English and even Italian!

You don’t need to be proficient reading music, although it will be helpful.

Recordings of the individual parts of each piece of music are made for you to study.

You don’t need to speak or read Hebrew, Yiddish or Ladino. The lyrics will be taught at rehearsals.

This is a non auditioned group, although you may need to audition to learn which part you are best singing.
